Create a vCard Contact QR Code
Create a digital contact card that people can scan to save your name, phone number, email, company and website directly to their phone contacts — no typing required. Perfect for business cards, email signatures, conference badges and networking events. Works with iPhone, Android and all modern QR scanners.
Common Uses
How to Use
Fill in your contact details — at minimum your first and last name — and click Generate QR Code. When someone scans the code, your details will appear in their phone with a one-tap "Save to Contacts" option. Add as many or as few fields as you like.
What a vCard QR code actually contains
The code encodes a vCard — the same contact format your phone already imports. Name, company, job title, phone, email, website and address are all supported; the more you add, the denser the pattern becomes.
For a code that will be scanned from a table tent or a badge, keep it lean: name, organisation, phone, email. For a code on a document people read up close, you can afford the full record including notes.
- Keep the address short — a full postal address roughly doubles the payload.
- One WhatsApp number in the phone field is usually more useful than three numbers.
- Always scan the printed proof before ordering in bulk.
Where a contact code pays off
- Email signatures and letterheads — recipients can scan a printout straight into their phone.
- Conference badges — swap details without cards.
- Shop counters and tradespeople's vans — a quote request in one tap.
- Estate agent boards and brochures — the negotiator's details, saved without typing.
- Showroom and reception signage — the right person, instantly.
Which vCard fields are worth filling in
Name, organisation, job title, one phone number, one email and a website are the fields people actually use. Everything beyond that is optional, and each extra field makes the code denser - so a card with a photo and three addresses scans less reliably than a lean one at the same print size.
The file follows the vCard standard that both iOS and Android import into the default contacts app. If a CRM or marketing suite needs to attribute the scan, add a tracking parameter to the website field rather than a custom field most phones will quietly ignore.
- Use the direct mobile number of the person the card belongs to, not a switchboard.
- Pair the code with a plain email address and phone number on the printed side, for anyone who cannot scan.
Where vCard codes earn their keep
- Networking and conferences - a code on your badge or slide deck puts your details straight into the phone address book.
- Email signatures and invoices - faster than dictating a number across a desk.
- Shop counters, salons and receptions - customers and visitors save the business contact without typing.
- CVs, portfolios and business cards - keep the printed details too, for anyone who cannot scan.
Codes that go well with a vCard
Pair the contact card with a URL QR code for your website or booking page, a WiFi QR code for guests, and a Google review QR code to turn a happy customer into a public review.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a vCard QR code?
A vCard QR code contains contact information in the standard vCard format. When scanned, it lets people save your name, phone, email, and other details directly to their contacts.
Do I need to fill in all fields?
No. Only enter the details you want to share. The first and last name are recommended so recipients can identify the contact.
Can recipients edit the details?
Yes. After saving to their phone, recipients can edit or add to the contact as normal. The QR code only provides the initial information.
Why does my scanned vCard save with the wrong details?
Almost always a formatting issue in the source fields — a line break inside a field, or a phone number with spaces and brackets. Re-generate the code with clean, single-line values and scan the printed proof before a bulk print run.
Can a vCard QR code hold a photo?
The format allows it, but an embedded photo makes the payload enormous and the QR code unreadable at normal print sizes. Link to a page with your photo instead, or add the photo to the contact afterwards on the phone.
Does a vCard QR code need an account to scan?
No. A scan opens the contact card and imports it straight into the phone's address book - no app, no sign-up, and the downloaded file has no watermark.
Does a vCard QR code expire?
A static contact code keeps working as long as the details inside it are correct. If a number or job title changes, generate a fresh code - unlike a dynamic code, a static one cannot be edited after printing.
